This uniquely designed tower, being built for the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), when complete will qualify for the world record as the most leaning building ever purposely built with tilt of 18 degrees off vertical. Sitting on a massive steel and concrete raft foundation it utilises 490 one metre diameter piles reacing 32 metres into the ground to counter the forces from the slant, wind pressure and occasional seismic activity that rumbles across the region from a nearby faultline in Iran. Designed by RMJM Architects the ground, mezzanine and upper floors will be furnished as a 194-room 5-star hotel for the Hyatt Group whilst the remaining floors are designed as general office space. The 34 storey 160m high building will be entered into the Guiness Book of World Records when it opens.
