Located 48.5km north of Maputo in Mozambique this family run lodge remains one of my most favourite places on earth. A great place to relax and unwind, the air is fresh, the beers are cold, the rooms are clean and comfortable and it’s a place where you fall asleep at night listening to the uniquely special African sounds of the night – crickets, nightjars and the sounds of Louis Prima playing on an old transistor radio.

The home cooked meals make the trip here worthwhile in its own right – be sure to sample Lizzy’s exquisite Mozambiquan flat chicken or prawn curry and be sure to save a little space for her most delightful lemon meringue pie! If you’re passing by on your way up to Xai Xai or Inhambane further north up the coast, be sure to stop over for a night and enjoy some fine old fashioned hospitality.

Below the first of three photo compilations from my recent visit here…
