What an awesome night last night turned out to be; our local football team Amazulu FC (the ‘Usuthu’) beat the Free State Stars 1-0 playing at the stadium and the rain presented the most fantastic opportunity to grab some more photos.

Stadiums are actually very difficult to photograph well as they are essentially relatively monotonous around their perimeter unless there’s something really remarkable that stands out. Failing that there’s not much else you can really do except work with powerful plays on light and shadow or get very excited about shooting in stormy weather and rain to give you a unique perspective on the structure. Around the Moses Mabhida Stadium you have to work fast after a storm as the water disperses really quickly when the rain stops and opportunities to shoot reflections and puddles dry up within just 15 minutes or so…
