Everyone would by now of course heard about the phenomenal Burj Khalifa in Dubai, officially the world’s tallest building, but it’s certainly difficult with just words and images to describe just how incredibly tall this structure really is. If you understand photography and know just how wide a 17mm lens is you will appreciate that standing probably half a kilometer away from this building (up next to the adjacent ‘The Address’ hotel) I struggled to actually get the full height of the building into frame!

Success is of course always short lived and this building’s claim to fame similarly sits on a ever-decreasing time clock as both the Saudi’s and the Chinese have publicised plans to go taller and build quicker. It’s only a matter of time of course until someone somewhere does, architectural and engineering challenges are like that (I suppose so is ego), but for the time-being Dubai has the award and gets all the attention…
